Wayne Davies continued his good run from last week where he won the International Terremolinos open, amongst players he beat where Justin Broton (Gib) and John Ferrell (UK).

Steve Robertson having reached the semi-finals over at Torremolinos also wanted to prove it was by no means luck. He went one better this time by reaching the Gibraltar Open final where he beat local talent Dylan Duo who put up a great fight to try and stop him.

Louise Simmonds simply put was ecstatic about her win against the toughest of opponents, Jan Robbins also from the UK.

Between the British Darts Organisation (Torremolinos Open) and the Kronenbourg Gibraltar Open 2006 the week has gone rather well for the Gibraltar representation in both events.

Both Justin Broton & Dylan Duo got to the stage semi-finals. Justin in the Torremolinos Open and Dylan in the Gib Open.

Another Gibraltar player, George Federico, despite having the toughest of draws reached the quarterfinals and lost to the eventual winner Wayne Davies from Wales.

Both tournaments are similar as they are only a week apart from each other and this means that players attending the Torremolinos Open are brought over by coach into Gibraltar to play in the Gibraltar Open.

There is a mix of international players, professionals, county and super league players from the United Kingdom and from around the world. Including a very healthy participation from Spanish players and ex pats that now reside and play in Spain. Both tournaments also boasted record numbers in attendance this year.

At the Gib Open we had a singles men and ladies tournament with prize funds reaching €3500 Euros and a place for both winners to represent as Gibraltar Champions in the Winmau Darts World Championships this year.
