Antony Lopez whitewashes Dyson Parody to claim his first ever senior ranking title!

Antony Lopez won his first ranking title after a brilliant display which only saw him drop a single leg on the night. Antony’s route to the final saw him claim wins over, Francis Remorino, Dylan Duo, Carlos Munoz, Sean Negrette and Justin Hewitt.

Early Rounds
The early rounds saw some of the top players go through  with relative ease. The first round also saw Antony Lopez get the better of his fellow College Cosmos team mate Dylan Duo with a 3-0 win, despite the scoreline the game  was a tight affair. Sean Negrette managed to get the better of an experienced Jimmy King 3-1.

Sean Negrette claims his first Youth Ranking Title of the season!

Semi-Finalists (Sean Negrette, Justin Hewitt, Jerome Chipol, Craig Galliano)

A total of 16  youngsters came down to participate in the Fourth Youth Ranking of the season which took place on Saturday 17th January 2018.

With 6 ranking events in total and only two more to play after this one things are very tight at the top of the table.  However, Craig Galliano and Justin Hewitt have both achieved enough points to guarantee themselves a top 4 finish regardless of how many points they get in the next two ranking events which means they have both qualified for the European Cup squad, congratulations to them both.

The other two spots are still up for grabs. Sean’s victory in this event does not mathematically get him into the top 4  but it he has certainly got himself into a great position to qualify.

Dyson Parody wins his Second Ranking title of the season!

GDA Ranking 3 – Carmello Ellul Classic!

The third GDA ranking saw a great turn out of 52  players gather up at the Varyl Begg Social Club. The event saw a high standard of play during the night which saw Dyson claim victory over David Francis 6-5 in the final and claim his second ranking title of the season.

Quarter-Finals
In the first Quarter-Final game we saw Dyson Parody claim victory over 15 year old Craig Galliano. In this match Craig missed his chances which let Dyson back into the game. Dyson was quick to punish the youngster winning the game 4-2.

In the second Quarter-Final game we saw the PDC under 23 qualifier, Jarvis Bautista take on the number two seed David Francis.  In this game Jarvis stormed into a 3-1 lead. But it was David who kept his cool wining 3 straight legs to take the match 4-3.

Jarvis, Justin & Sean take the trebles title in an all Mons Calpe Final!

This year’s League Trebles event saw a total of 33 players take part, meaning a total of 11 teams were formed on the night and they were all fighting for the right to become trebles champions.

This year’s tournament enjoyed a successful night of darts with 5 youth players playing in the final proving yet again that the Youth Academy system is developing players for the future.

Justin Hewitt claims his First Youth Ranking title of the season!

Semi-Finalists (Jerome Chipol, Justin Hewitt, Sean Negrette, Ethan Smith)

A total of 14  youngsters came down to participate in the third Youth Ranking of the season which took place on Saturday 20th January 2018.

There is a total of 6 ranking events to be played in the season, so this meant that after this event we would be half way in knowing who will finish in those important top 4 places.

The top 4 players at the end of the season are the ones who earn a spot in the Youth European Cup squad.

In this ranking event there were a few changes in the seedings, surprisingly for some Craig Galliano who won the first two ranking events has dropped out of the seedings. Ethan Smith is now the Number 1 seed, Jerome Chipol #2, Justin Hewitt #3 and Sean Negrette #4. These seedings will stay the same for the remaining  ranking events of the season.

Craig Galliano makes history as youngster ever player to win a Senior Ranking event!

GDA Ranking Two!

Craig Galliano becomes the youngest ever senior ranking winner at 15 years of age.

The second GDA ranking of the season had a great turnout of 39 players in total.

The night was composed of several shocks such as Jarvis Bautista claiming a quarter final win over Gibraltar’s number one Dyson Parody with a 4-3 win. Jarvis was 0-3 down in this match and somehow he managed to cause a major upset by winning 4 consecutive legs in a row to claim his first ever win over the current National Champion.

Craig Galliano also kept up his winning form which won him the first two youth ranking titles. During the night he claimed wins over an experienced group of players to book his place in the final.

The final got off to a steady start by both players. Both Craig and Jarvis were fighting for the right to claim their first ranking title, in the end it was Craig who managed to keep his cool and take  the title with a 6-2 win over Jarvis Bautista.

A total of 15 youngsters came down to participate in the second Youth Ranking of the season which took place on Wednesday 13th December 2017.

All players have one thing in mind when it comes to these ranking events and that is to win as many games possible in order to gain points to climb up the rankings and get into those crucial top 4 places.

The top 4 players at the end of the season are the ones who earn a spot in the Youth European Cup squad.

In the First Ranking event of the season we had some great games and some shock results and more of that was expected in this event.

Mixed Doubles & Mixed Trebles 2017/18

Mixed Doubles Finalists!

The GDA once again wishes to thank each participant especially the ladies who turned up for this year’s edition of the Mixed Pairs & Trebles event. It’s the support of these individuals which is ensuring that the event is not lost forever, as the GDA continues its commitment to encourage ladies to take part.

A excellent turnout of 12 pairs and 7 trebles turned up for this friendly night of darts.

The night started off with the pairs event, in the first round we saw comfortable 2-0 victories for Jarvis & Jackie Bautista, Dylan & Kayra Duo and for Sean & Karen Negrette. Justin & Tamara Hewitt also managed to win their first round game in a much tighter affair 2-1.

Craig Galliano claims the first Youth Ranking of the season!

A total of 16 youngsters came along to the first Youth Ranking event of the 2017/18 season which took place on Wednesday 15th November, and all players were hoping to claim the first title of the season.

Just recently it was confirmed that the 2018 Youth European Cup will be taking place in Turkey so the race for qualification started off with this event. At the end of the season the top 4 players in the rankings will be the ones who earn a spot to represent Gibraltar at this prestigious event.

First Round
In the first round we saw comfortable 3-0 victories for Craig Galliano over newcomer Keith Medhurst Jnr, Sean Negrette against Joseph Borge, Ethan Smith against Joseph Ward, Justin Hewitt against Jayc Alecio and Dylan Duo Jnr against Elton Victory. Dylan de los Santos managed to defeat Liam Santos 3-2 in a last leg decider and Kyle Mor managed to defeat Andre Luque by the same scoreline 3-2.  However, the shock result of the first round was Kaylan Franco defeating the number 3 seed Jerome Chipol in straight legs 3-0.

Dyson Parody had to fight hard to claim the Kronenbourg 1664 Ranking title!

The first Senior Ranking of the 2017/18 GDA season was held on Friday 10th November, a day that some will remember forever as history was made on the night!

A total of 50 players came along to compete in the first ranking event of the season, all hoping for one thing, to become the Kronenbourg 1664 Ranking champion.
